Business law is considered apolitical. It is not. Every contract, every investment, every restructuring assumes that independent courts decide, that administration is predictable, and that contracts can be enforced even against the will of the powerful. A large share of our clients come from abroad and invest in Germany.

These people and companies come because Germany is governed by the rule of law. Whoever damages this rule of law also damages the business location — and the freedom of the people who live and work here.

That is why we do not stay silent.

• The Basic Law, No Discounts.
  Human dignity is inviolable — Article 1 is not a mere policy statement, but our working foundation. We are committed to the free democratic basic order, the separation of powers, and the independence of the judiciary.
• No Proximity to Right-Wing Extremism.
  Racism, antisemitism, anti-Muslim hostility, historical revisionism, and the relativization of Nazi crimes are not up for discussion for us. They are incompatible with legal practice that serves the law.
• A Clear Rejection of the AfD and Its Environment.
  Our stance applies generally and independently of specific organizations, parties, or individuals. Nevertheless, given the current situation in Germany, it is important to us to clearly distance ourselves here from the mindset and many positions of the AfD in Germany. The AfD pursues a political model that sorts people by origin, delegitimizes the European Union, disparages independent institutions as a “system-party apparatus,” and makes deportation fantasies socially acceptable. We consider this an attack on the foundations of our professional practice — and we say so openly. We do not help legally support, legitimize, or normalize such goals.
• Right-Wing Populism Is Not a German Problem.
  Whether in Europe, the Americas, or Asia: wherever governments replace judges, intimidate lawyers, curtail press freedom, criminalize NGOs, and cast doubt on election results, legal certainty ends. We watch this with concern and call it out. Authoritarian temptation is recognized not by party membership, but by how a government treats courts, minorities, and the truth.
• No Tolerance In-House.
  Right-wing extremist, racist, or antisemitic statements and symbols have no place in our firm — neither within the team nor in dealings with clients, opposing parties, or service providers.
