NETWORKING TO PROTECT BIODIVERSITY
Reef, a strong advocate for justice, equality, human rights, and environmental preservation, actively seeks out meaningful projects to support. One of the initiatives we are proud to partner with is Treesistance.
Through our membership in the international advisory network IR Global, Reef has established a partnership with this unique project. Their collaboration aims to provide support to the Maró Indigenous Territory Forest Guardians.

This project is very important to us. The Tree Guadians defend the rights of nature, just as we defend the rights of our clients. Protecting biodiversity is part of the concept of the Reef.

Led by Indigenous leader Dadá Borarí, the Treesistance Forest Guardian program plays a crucial role in protecting the Maró Indigenous territory.
Spanning an area of 420 km2, this territory is home to a rich and diverse ecosystem that needs safeguarding.
The success of Treesistance’s efforts in combating forest crime and deforestation in the Amazon has received recognition and validation.
Their blueprint for stopping these destructive activities has been peer-reviewed and featured in the latest UN module on Forest & Fauna (2021).
The movement’s approach is based on three key pillars. Firstly, they focus on demarcating territories and asserting land rights claims. This helps to establish legally protected areas for indigenous communities. Secondly, Treesistance forms teams of Forest Guardians who work tirelessly to protect their territories and prevent illegal activities.
Lastly, they prioritize building trusted relationships with law enforcement agencies to ensure prompt and effective action is taken against perpetrators.

Reef’s support for Treesistance is channeled towards co-sponsoring the Maró Forest Guardians. By enabling the Forest Guardians to continue their vital work, Reef actively participates in the fight against deforestation and the preservation of this precious ecosystem.
